Meet Dr Katherine Maher

Dr Katherine Maher MBBS, FRACGP, AACEM (Int.), MOUM (Dux)
is a diving and hyperbaric medicine doctor with a strong foundation in emergency and general practice.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Tasmania, where she received the John Flynn Scholarship for her commitment to rural and remote healthcare.

After graduating, Dr Maher completed her early clinical training at the Royal Hobart Hospital before attaining Fellowship of the RACGP. She later returned to the RHH as a Hyperbaric Medicine doctor, managing patients requiring recompression therapy and complex hyperbaric interventions.

In 2025, Dr Maher completed the Medical Officer Underwater Medicine (MOUM) Course, graduating DUX and receievd the Carl Edmond Scholarship for outstanding performance.

She is now undertaking the Advanced Diploma in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, continuing her trajectory toward becoming one of Australia’s next‑generation leaders in the field.
